The first release in Hard Truth Distilling Co.’s 2026 Barrel Finish Reserve series, this limited expression is a masterclass in craft blending and barrel artistry. Master Distiller Bryan Smith selected just 23 barrels for this release, drawing on two complementary sweet mash bourbons — the flagship BW-1 straight bourbon (73% corn, 19% rye, 8% malted barley) and the all-Indiana grain BW-5 (82% corn, 18% rye) — each aged in custom-toasted American oak before being finished in toasted French oak casks.
A final mellowing step returned the bourbon to its original casks, allowing the French oak character to integrate more deeply into every layer of the whiskey. The result is a complex, velvety bourbon that showcases the elegance of grain-to-glass craftsmanship at its finest.
