Lalocura Tobasiche / Espadín Ensamble — Eduardo Ángeles

A rare 50/50 agave ensamble from Santa Catarina Minas, Oaxaca, produced by acclaimed mezcalero Eduardo Javier Ángeles Carreño of Lalocura.

This special bottling combines 50% Tobasiche (Agave karwinskii) with 50% Espadín (Agave angustifolia), bringing together the structured, mineral and vegetal character of Tobasiche with the sweeter, fruitier personality of Espadín.

Made using deeply traditional methods, the agaves are cooked in a pre-Hispanic-style underground oven and double distilled in clay pots. The spirit is adjusted with puntas & colas, maintaining the rustic intensity and complexity Lalocura is known for.

At 47.9% ABV (95.8 proof), expect layers of roasted agave, citrus peel, green herbs, tropical fruit and earthy minerality, developing into pepper, subtle smoke and savory vegetal notes. The clay-pot distillation adds an earthy texture and depth, leading to a long, dry and mineral-driven finish.
